A 53-year-old woman died and another woman was in critical condition after being found Saturday on the Linda Vista hiking trail north of Tucson.
About 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oro Valley police notified the Pima County Sheriff's Department that two women were possibly injured while hiking the popular trail east of North Oracle Road near West Calle Concordia.
The Sheriff's Department's search and rescue team, working with several fire agencies, located the hikers a short distance apart.
Lyn Lagergren was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said Sunday in a news release.
An unidentified woman was taken to the hospital. She was in critical condition, the release said.
"No suspicious circumstances were noted," the release said.
The incident still is being investigated.
