A 27-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a man walking across a Tucson street earlier this month.
Jazmin Montaño-Granados was arrested on Aug. 27 on suspicion of failing to stay at the scene of an accident, according to court records.
Prosecutors allege Jazmin Montaño-Granados struck Izaah Ashley, 25, about 2 a.m. Aug. 10, as he crossed East 22nd Street near South Park Avenue. Ashley died at the hospital soon after the crash.
Witnesses and roadway evidence indicated Ashley was jaywalking when he was struck by a westbound SUV. The driver fled the scene, and the SUV was later found abandoned, police have said.
During her initial appearance in court Thursday morning, prosecutors asked that a $50k bond be set, calling Montaño-Granados a flight risk.
