More than 200 birds, including an emu and a peacock, that were rescued from a Pima County property earlier this month due to alleged chronic neglect and welfare concerns have caused overcrowding at Pima Animal Care Center.
On Aug.  6, PACC confiscated 219 birds — many in poor health — along with two dogs. The birds are undergoing treatment before they can be put up for adoption. Until that happens, the flock will be staying in spaces typically used to house dogs. This has created overcrowding in kennels, PACC said.
Those interested in adopting a bird should fill out a form with PACC, , and they will be contacted when birds are available.
