A 17-year-old girl was stabbed Tuesday afternoon at the University of ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥â€™s main library, school officials say.
A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with the stabbing, which occurred about 2:15 p.m., University of ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ police said in a news release.
UAPD officers immediately provided life-saving aid to the girl using Individual First Aid Kits until paramedics arrived and took her to the hospital.
The unidentified teen was listed in stable condition, the release said.
A teen boy who ran from the scene was apprehended and taken to the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center, the release said. He was not identified, and no information on the charges was provided.
Neither teen is a UA student.
“We know this news is unsettling, and our thoughts are with those directly affected,†Mitch Zak, a UA spokesman, said in a separate news release.

The campus was busy Tuesday, the first day of dorm move-in days before classes for the fall semester begin Monday.
The incident remains under investigation.
An alert was first sent by the school immediately after the stabbing was reported.
SAFECAT is a new safety application, launched this semester, is being used in tandem with UAlert notifications and should be downloaded on iPhone or Android phones to obtain information in the quickest, most efficient way, campus safety officials said.
“The situation is resolved ... There is no longer a threat,†the school said in a third alert issued just before 3 p.m.
