Sunnyside’s bid for a spot in the Junior League Baseball World Series came to an end Tuesday.
Sunnyside lost to Mark West Youth Club of Northern California 12-2 in an elimination game in the JLB West Region Tournament in Bend, Oregon.

Sunnyside had won three consecutive elimination games Saturday-Monday and finished the West Region Tournament with a 4-2 record. That came on the heels of a 5-0 sweep in the ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ State Junior Baseball Tournament in Payson.
Sunnyside fell behind Mark West 7-0 through three innings Tuesday. After scoring twice in the top of the fifth, Sunnyside yielded two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three in the top of the sixth to end the game via run rule.
One more Tucson team has a shot to make a World Series. Four-time state champion Post 7, consisting of players from Tucson High School, is participating in the American Legion Western Regional Tournament next week. Post 7 opens against host Fairfield, California, on Aug. 6.
