The bodies of a couple with a history of domestic violence were found this week in a house on Tucson's north side, police said.
About 12:45 p.m. Monday, the bodies of Michelle Ohnesorgen Johnson, 47, and Michael Martinez Duran, 48, were found inside a house in the 2800 block of North Desert Avenue, near North Swan Road and East Glenn Street, Tucson police said in a news release.
Both had been shot.
Initial evidence indicates Duran shot Johnson, then turned the gun on himself, the release said.
Earlier this week, without naming the people involved, the Pima County Attorney's Office noted the killing.
"A defendant that our office was prosecuting for two felony cases regarding domestic violence strangulation is now reported to have killed the same victim and then killed himself," a news release from the county prosecutor's office said. "This is a reminder of how very dangerous and complex domestic violence cases can be."

Duran was released from jail despite the fact the office "strenuously objected due to our grave concerns that the defendant's violence was escalating."
The case still is being investigated.
