A man died a day after he stepped into oncoming traffic on Tucson's north side, Tucson police said.
Just after 9 p.m. Thursday, Silas Jordan Polin was struck by a 2015 Jeep Compass after he stepped off a median onto the northbound North Oracle Road near West Fort Lowell Road, Tucson police said in a news release.
He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The unidentified 17-year-old driver of the Jeep stayed at the crash scene, and officers later determined they were not impaired, the release said.
On Friday police were notified by the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office that Polin had died.
While the crash is still being investigated, stepping onto the traffic against the red light is the major contributing factor in the crash, police said.
