In ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥'s days in the Pac-12, even the most casual UA fan could name the league's seemingly endless supply of star-level offensive coordinators, year after year. Steve Sarkisian, Lane Kiffin, Norm Chow, Sonny Dykes, Homer Smith, Chip Kelly, John Robinson and on and on.
But the Big 12 isn't like that. Not even close.
There are nine first-year offensive coordinators in the Big 12 this season, and four in their second year. The longest tenured OC in the Big 12 is BYU's Aaron Roderick, in his fifth season.
Introductions are in order. Here are the league's nine first-year offensive coordinators:

Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Seth Doege watches with a couple of his charges, Braedyn Locke, left, and Noah Fifita, as the ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ run offensive drills in preseason training camp, Aug. 9, 2025, in Tucson.
– Mack Leftwich, Texas Tech: Only 30, Leftwich was hired away from Texas State. He got famous by coaching Cameron Ward, the NFL's first overall draft pick this season, at Incarnate Word in Texas four years ago.

– Slade Nagle, Houston: Sounds like a fictitious name, doesn't it? Nagle, 45, last coached LSU's special teams and has coaching roots at Texas State.
– Doug Meacham, Oklahoma State: An OSU grad, the 59-year-old Meacham is returning home after coaching Texas Tech's wide receivers.
– Jason Beck, Utah: Perhaps the hottest OC property to enter the league, Beck, 41, worked magic with poor old New Mexico's offense last year.
– Jim Zebrowski, Kansas: Part of the KU staff for seven years, the 56-year-old Zebrowski, with a background at Wisconsin-Whitewater (an FBS power), gets a crack at running the Jayhawks' offense.
– Matt Wells, Kansas State: True, it's Wells' first year as KSU's outright OC, but he has been the head coach at Texas Tech and Utah State, fired at both stops.
– Steve Cooper, UCF: At 39, Cooper was the offensive analyst at Boise State last year.
– Rich Rodriguez, West Virginia: At 62, RichRod has returned to his alma mater as head coach. He did not appoint an offensive coordinator. He is a large-and-in-charge figure of the Mountaineer offense.
– Seth Doege, ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥: With a career that included stops at Marshall, Purdue, Ole Miss, Bowling Green and USC, Doege, 37, has been charged with restoring life and productivity to ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥'s listless 2024 offense.
