Members of the public will have one more chance to learn about a proposed 4 percent hike in the county sewer rate.
At 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Advisory Committee is sponsoring a public meeting on the proposal in Conference Room C at the Public Works Building at 201 N. Stone Ave.
The board of supervisors was set to vote on the hike at its Jan. 17 meeting, but delayed the vote until Feb. 7.
At the January meeting, Supervisor Richard El铆as expressed concern that few, if any, members of the public attended the two previous public hearings held in December.
The wastewater committee has previously advised that three 4 percent hikes will be necessary to stave off potentially serious financial consequences for the department, though it is holding off on making additional recommendations until a rate study is completed. That study is expected late this spring.
